What’s Included in the Check-up?
Diastasis Rectus Abdominus (DRA) Assessment: Checking for abdominal muscle separation.
Pelvic Floor Muscle Evaluation: Assessing muscle contraction strength.
Postural Assessment & Breathing Techniques: Helping you improve posture and breathing for better strength and comfort.
Bladder, Bowel, and Sexual Health Review: Discussing any concerns and providing support for pelvic health.
Caesarean Section Rehabilitation & Scar Assessment
Having a Caesarean section is a significant procedure, and it's important to give your body the care and attention it needs as you recover. Our specialized physiotherapy services offer Caesarean scar assessments and tailored rehabilitation programs to support your postnatal recovery journey.
What We Assess:
Scar Healing & Assessment: We check the healing progress of your C-section scar, ensuring there are no signs of complications like infection, adhesion, or restricted mobility.
Pelvic Floor Recovery: Post-surgery, the pelvic floor can be impacted. We assess its strength and function to prevent long-term issues like incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse.
Core Strength & Abdominal Function: After a C-section, your core muscles may have weakened or become disconnected. We work on regaining abdominal strength, addressing any diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA) if present.
Postural & Movement Patterns: Recovering from a C-section can affect how you move. We assess your posture and daily movement patterns to correct any compensations and help you move with ease.
Tailored Rehabilitation:
Gentle Scar Mobilization Techniques: To reduce adhesions, improve flexibility of the scar tissue, and ease any discomfort.
Core Reconnection Exercises: Safe exercises to help you reconnect with your core and strengthen your abdominal muscles.
Pelvic Floor Strengthening: Specialized exercises to improve pelvic floor strength and prevent urinary incontinence or other pelvic health issues.
Posture & Alignment Correction: We’ll help you improve posture, which may have shifted due to pregnancy or surgery, and give advice on daily activities to avoid strain.
When to Book Your Check
We recommend booking your check-up after your 6-week GP check, but feel free to come anytime from 6 weeks to several years postpartum! We’re here to support you at every stage.
